Adopt-a-Pet.com is a charity on a mission to help homeless pets find loving homes. The organization has, for many years, been focused on providing support to its network of over 17,000 animal shelters and rescues across the U.S. and Canada—getting the pets in their care seen by the millions of adopters who search for their new best friend on Adopt-a-Pet.com each month.

Thanks to the Petco Foundation, Adopt-a-Pet.com is now able to extend that support directly to pet owners who can no longer keep their pets. The service is free to owners seeking to rehome their pets, and adopters pay a small adoption fee with 100 percent donated to an animal shelter or rescue of the original owner’s choosing.

Why am I telling you all this old news from 2017?

Because guess who participated in the recent 'PetRescue Hackathon'?

PetRescue 'Pet Hack' website

And - shocker, we all know who would like to get in on that sweet sweet "increased revenue by 20%" - now PetRescue boasts it's own peer-to-peer pet vending service 'Home2Home'.

PetRescue claims to be "helping" rescue by rehoming...

Poodle puppies, and...

Dachshunds, and...

Baby GSDs, and...

Purebred English Bulldogs, and a whole bunch other dogs who could likely have benefited from the expertise of a real rescue group...

Because who knows; maybe there’s more to rescuing pets, than slapping ads online.

With this hand-picking of desirable dogs, combined with PetRescue's predatory fundraising strategies redirecting the donations rescue groups need to survive to themselves, PetRescue is firmly placing itself as a competitor to rescue, rather than a supporting industry leader.
